Hello. I'm scheduled to report for Jury Duty starting next week. I recently tested positive for Covid and my quarantine period ends January 8th, therefore, I won't be able to attend in person. I have proof. but here I'm not given an option to add an attachment here. Please advise.

YOU MUST BRING YOUR JURY SUMMONS OR JUROR BADGE TO ACCESS FREE PARKING.
Free juror parking is provided in the parking structure located near the front entrance of the building. Entrance to the parking structure is on Pacific Concourse. Show your jury summons or badge to the attendant for entry.
Jurors must bring in their summons or badge to enter and exit the parking structure. Jurors must scan their summons/badge bar code at the bar code scanner located at the parking entrance or exit. Jurors will only be allowed to enter and park for free if they have a summons or badge, and their group number has been called in to report for service.
Note: Maximum overhead clearance for the facility is 8'2". Any vehicle exceeding the maximum overhead clearance will be directed by an attendant to a suitable parking area.
Jurors may proceed to the front of the weapon screening line with a jury summons or badge. A cafeteria is located on the first floor of the building and vending machines are located in the jury assembly room.
Orientation Video
The law requires that you participate in the orientation process each time you are summoned for jury service to ensure you understand your role and responsibilities as a trial juror. You must complete the orientation before reporting for jury service.
Completing the orientation process online requires that you view the orientation video in its entirety. The orientation process takes approximately 9 minutes to complete.
Please note that the orientation video is hosted on YouTube. If you experience difficulties playing the video, it may be because:
- the YouTube site is down,
- your browser does not support YouTube, or
- the YouTube site is blocked or restricted on your device.
If you are not able to complete the online orientation for any reason, you may do so by:
- Calling the Court's Serve Jury telephone system at (213) 972-0970. After entering your JID and PIN numbers, select the orientation option. The recording is approximately 5 minutes in length and you must listen to the entire recording to receive credit.
- Reading the orientation script included in the mailing with your summons before reporting for service.

California Labor Code, Section 230 protects jurors from employer misconduct related to employee performance of jury service. It is against the law to discharge or discriminate against an employee who is summoned to serve as a juror.
Please note that you must let your employer know well in advance of your service. You should let your employer know that you have been summoned as soon as you receive your summons. For further information please see Labor Code Section 230.
- 230. (a) An employer may not discharge or in any manner discriminate against an employee for taking time off to serve as required by law on an inquest jury or trial jury, if the employee, before taking the time off, gives reasonable notice to the employer that he or she is required to serve.
- 230. (g) (1) Any employee who is discharged, threatened with discharge, demoted, suspended, or in any other manner discriminated or retaliated against in the terms and conditions of employment by his or her employer because the employee has taken time off for a purpose set forth in subdivision (a),...shall be entitled to reinstatement and reimbursement for lost wages and work benefits caused by the acts of the employer. Any employer who willfully refuses to rehire, promote, or otherwise restore an employee or former employee who has been determined to be eligible for rehiring or promotion by a grievance procedure or hearing authorized by law is guilty of a misdemeanor.
- 230. (h) (1) Any employee who is discharged, threatened with discharge, demoted, suspended, or in any other manner discriminated or retaliated against in the terms and conditions of employment by his or her employer because the employee has exercised his or her rights as set forth in subdivision (a),...may file a complaint with the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement of the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Section 98.7.
- 230. (i) An employee may use vacation, personal leave, or compensatory time off that is otherwise available to the employee under the applicable terms of employment, unless otherwise provided by a collective bargaining agreement, for time taken off for a purpose specified in subdivision (a),...The entitlement of any employee under this section shall not be diminished by any collective bargaining agreement term or condition.
